Overview

CouncilCast replaces physical ballot boxes, hand tallying, and manual voter rosters with a multi-tenant platform designed around trustworthy school and college council elections.

Challenge

The legacy PHP application needed a secure rebuild that could support multiple schools without compromising ballot integrity, tenant isolation, or election-day usability on shared devices and weak connections.

Approach

I rebuilt the product with Laravel 12 and Livewire around strict server-side authorization, separate staff and voter guards, immutable audit trails, rate-limited passwordless voting, transaction-locked ballot submission, and stable public results links.

What I built

Multi-school SaaS with absolute tenant isolation and expiring school access.
Role-specific consoles for SuperAdmin, Staff, Facilitators, and voters.
Passwordless student-ID voting protected against double submissions.
Election workspaces for positions, parties, candidates, rosters, and reports.
CSV voter import, live results, public result publishing, and four PDF report types.
Legacy migration tooling for importing historical CouncilCast data.
